Liquid Minerals™ takes makeup as skincare to the next level!
Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but what hits the eye of the beholder is light. When that light is scattered by particles in makeup that reflect and refract rays then it creates a soft-focus effect, which results in the complexion looking younger, healthier and flawless. Jane Iredale’s mineral powder bases have always had this ability, but now they come in a liquid form encapsulated with ingredients that can replenish the cellular layers of the epidermis.
A benefit for all skin types, Liquid Minerals™ diminishes the appearance of lines and wrinkles, minimizes pores, evens out skin tone and adheres so well, there is minimal transference. The difference in the appearance, feel and health of the skin is soon apparent
Time-Released Anti-Oxidants and Phytosomes
The beads or spheres visible in the airless pump are actually liposomes entrapping liposomes. This state-of-the-art technology allows us to encapsulate large amounts of active ingredients, which are then time-released on to the skin. This controlled and sustained release into the epidermis increases delivery by up to 40%.
At the center of the visible spheres lie minerals (mica, titanium dioxide, boron nitride and iron oxides), L-sodiumhyaluronate acid (hyaluronic acid) and Olive Squalene all encapsulated by seaweed lipids. Floating around these larger spheres, like planets around the sun, are microscopic liposomes that individually encapsulate Coenzyme Q 10, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamins C), Vitamin K, Willow Bark Extract, Chamomile, Calendula, and Seaweeds (Algin, Agar and Carrageenan.)
The spheres are then suspended in a gel of aloe vera, lavender flower water and vegetable glycerin.
As the makeup is applied and worked into the skin, the body temperature breaks down the liposomes so that they can release their actives in a prolonged time-release action for the ultimate in skin health and protection. This formula has a natural pH of 6 and is so perfectly balanced that it needs no pH adjusters.
This expensive but effective packaging ensures fresh, active ingredients without the necessity of synthetic preservatives.
When the pump is operated it pushes the gel and liposomes through a screen which mixes them into a mousse. You may see what appears to be beading when you first begin the application. This is the liposomes breaking down. The mousse will soon smooth out. (The first pump of a new bottle may be clear. This is the gel clearing the tube. Just rub it into your hands. It’s good for them!)
Suggested methods of application are:
1. For a light coverage – Spritz the flocked sponge with D2O, pump a small amount of Liquid Mineralson to the hand or a spatula and pick up the mousse with the sponge, gently working it to help break the liposomes. Apply as you would a liquid makeup.
2. For a heavier coverage – Apply with a dry flocked sponge. (I’ve tried a number of applicators and I think our sponge does the best job of breaking the spheres and smoothing out the mousse.
3. For dry skin – Apply moisturizer before applying Liquid Minerals.
4. For oily skin – Apply without a moisturizer.
5. The loose or pressed minerals may be added on top for more coverage and/or sun protection.
6. Liquid Minerals grabs color more than the powders. Apply blush gently.
Aloe vera gel: Hydrating and soothing. The specifically formulated and purified aloe vera in our gel is less sensitizing than raw gel.
Lavender: Helpful for rapid healing and soothing. It stimulates new cell growth, fights infection and reduces inflammation. Also helps to balance oil production.
Vegetable Glycerin: Helps the skin to retain moisture due to its water-binding capabilities that allow it to draw and absorb water from the air.
MINERAL LIPOSOMES: (The following ingredients are encapsulated in one visible
Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Boron Nitride, Iron Oxides
L-sodium Hyaluronate: A natural protein that helps retain moisture in the skin. It can hold up to one thousand times its weight in water. As we age, the levels of hyaluronic acid diminish. Applying hyaluronic acid post-treatment will help make the skin feel soft and avoid dehydration and subsequent flaking.
Olive Squalene: An oxygenator and cancer fighter. It holds moisture to the epidermal lipid layer. Helps keep skin supple and smooth and guards against UV radiation.
ANTI-OXIDANT LIPOSOMES: (Microscopic liposomes containing individual
Coenzyme Q10: A naturally occurring metabolic enzyme found in every living cell of the body. Used daily, CoQ10 helps prevent and reverse the aging process. It stimulates the vital energy necessary for skin cells to heal, protect and rejuvenate themselves. Tests show that: CoQ10 decreases DNA damage up to 70%. Significantly maintains the dermal matrix. Reduces wrinkle depth by 27%. Increases epidermal turnover and cellular renewal. Acts as a powerful antioxidant.
Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate: A stable derivative of ascorbic acid. Has been shown to suppress melanin formation. Has a protective effect against skin damage by UVB radiation. A good antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that can be used post-exfoliation, as it frequently has a less acidic pH than water-based vitamin C.
Seaweeds (Algin, Agar, Carrageenan): Have anti-inflammatory capabilities in addition to being nourishing and moisturizing to the skin. People who are allergic to shellfish should avoid these ingredients.
Vitamin K: Rosacea specialist, Dr. Geoffrey Nase has said: "Vitamin K has been the plastic surgeons' magical secret weapon for post-surgery bruising (damaged blood vessels). It has been shown to strengthen blood vessels (arterioles, capillaries and venules) in scientific studies. Small concentrations of Vitamin K added to your daily routine may have a very positive effect on under eye bags (swelling), under eye bluish color (dilated venules returning de-oxygenated blood) and red dilated arterioles that have not been structurally damaged."
PHYTOSOMES: (Microscopic liposomes containing individual plant extracts.)
Calendula (Marigold): Has soothing, antiseptic, anti-itching and anti-inflammatory properties. Effective for oily and/or delicate skin as well as for acne. Extract obtained from the calendula blossom.
Chamomile: Anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. Studies have shown that it reduces dryness, itching, redness and sensitivity in irritated and inflamed skin. Extract obtained from the flower heads.
Willow Bark Extract: Outstanding anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It is one of the few ingredients that is found in nature and is also an OTC. A natural source of salicins and beta-hydroxyacids, which are especially helpful for acneic skin.
